We are all aware of the intense spiritual battle happening on the college campus and the staggering 70% drop out rate of 18-22 year olds from the local church. InterVarsity Christian Fellowship is a ministry equipped to tackle this problem head on in the state of Georgia.
Through small group Bible studies, leadership development, service activities in the city, outreach events, and a thoughtful approach to discipleship, InterVarsity seeks to transform the lives of students, renew the campus culture, and graduate leaders who will change the world. Thousands of students are touched by this ministry in our state each year.
While we are thrilled with the students who are regularly involved in small group Bible studies, outreach to the campus, and leading their friends to Christ, we are also haunted by a number: 500,000. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, that is how many college students are attending university in the state of Georgia. We believe our call is to reach every single one of them with the Good News of Jesus Christ. But our budget limits us.
The purpose of this campaign is to raise $300,000 for expansion of the ministry. Specifically, we aim to:
- Host 4-Day Evangelism Events on Six Campuses
- Train and Mentor New Leaders
- Reach Hundreds of New Students
- Launch New Student-Led Bible Studies
- Plant Two New Chapters
The Georgia InterVarsity staff are serious about reaching the 500,000, and are determined to grow strategically each year so every student in Georgia will have the opportunity to walk with Jesus in college. We have a unique opportunity this year to elevate the impact and scope of Georgia InterVarsity by increasing visibility on campus, recruiting and mentoring new students, building chapters, and launching new evangelism initiatives.
